Hey guys! I'm hoping to buy a hobie 16 in the next month or so, and I want to know if It will fit inside my garage. Length of garage is 21 feet. Single car. I only have a motorcycle in their so far. I know that most trailers are 17 feet, and the hobie sticks out the back. Am I able to move the boat further up on the trailer when stowed? Also, I think the mast is 26 feet. What years did they make the two piece mast? Thanks! -JT

I don't think Hobie ever made a 2 piece mast. Not one that can be broken down at any rate. The only other type pf mast besides all aluminum is one with a comptip and it is not made to be taken apart other than to replace with a new comptip if needed. Of course, I could be wrong. I have been before, so my wife tells me.

The H16 mast spec is 28'6". I just paced off my trailer which is typical of what you'll see for an H16 (can post pic if that helps) and it's ~20'.

I suppose you could push the boat forward on the trailer to make the room you need, but to get the transoms close to flush and in line with the rear frame of the trailer could make it unstable in storage or put unwanted pressure from the front roller on the hulls, or both, I dunno.....

Here is the spec link:

Note the correction to the mast length I provided above, it is 26'6" vice 28'6".

Also note that trailer length will be affected by the location of the mast support; if further forward than the trailer tongue then the overall length will be longer, obviously. I've moved my mast support around as needed to reconfigure mounted accessories, tool boxes, sail tubes, etc., sometimes it's been aft enough for the top to be flush with the trailer tongue.

My Hobie will fit on one side of my two car garage and still allow a car on the other side. However, the mast does not fit and has to sit on the side of my townhome. Hopefully HOA doesnt mind!

Thanks for the pic Keven! How long is your garage and Do you have to put the hobie further forward on the trailer to make it fit?
