Hi there,

You should definitely check in with the guys at the Sandy Hook Catamaran Club - Hobie Fleet 250. They're have one of the most knowledgeable and social groups around.

I'd be happy to help out if you feel like venturing down to the LBI area.

Congrats on the H-16!

Best,
Rich

Thank You all for help and support.
I found out that one of my buddys been sailing since he was a kid, never a hobie only sailboats but ir was easy for him anyways. The only problem we had was to raise the mast, most likely we did it wrong way because it took us 15-20 minutes and alot of muscule.I have to learn a proper approach to raising the mast. Anyhow we got to the middle of Round Valley and the wind completely stopped, dead. We were paddeling back to the ramp for 2 hours with our bare hands. Lesson learned either have a pair of paddles or do not go out if wind situation looks shady.

A paddle is always a good idea. Did you lie on the hulls to paddle in? It usually moves pretty well when you do that. I don't remember Round Valley being that big that it would take so long to get in. They built it and Spruce Run at the same time to provide water to Newark when there was a drought. Before they finished, the drought was over and Newark said they wouldn't pay for running the pipes to the city. So 2 reservoirs became recreational lakes. ( I was born in Edison and later lived in Hunterdon County)

I also lived in Hunterdon county, went to Central, I was not into sailing in the sixty's but did a lot of fishing on those lakes makes me want to make a road trip to sail with you guys, round valley would be the better of the two lakes to sail on. Have fun and don't for get to go to wiener king in flemington when you get done !
