New old 16 question on forestay

We have a "new" old 1980 Hobie 16 which we just got. We are trying to figure out how the forestay attaches to the v-cables. It would seem there should be a turnbuckle there somewhere but the boat we got doesnt have all the parts. Can anyone give me a clue as to how we are supposed to get the mast adjusted without turnbuckles?

You need a big bow shackle (10700000) and stay adjuster (20830020). (Turnbuckles are for Prindles and monoslugs!) On this site you can order a Hobie Catalog, complete with parts diagrams and/or download the diagrams themselves....it'll make a lot more sense.

There are no turnbuckles used on the forestay because it is only in temporary use while, holding up the mast until the jib is raised. The wire in the jib becomes the forestay and is tightened by the jib halyard. You get some mechanical advantage on the jib halyard by running the line around the cheek block, up through the little pulley in the halyard and back down to the cleat. The v-cables (bridle) should have the bow shackle and stay adjuster described in the previous post.
