I'm trying to figure out where we can launch Hobie Cats in New Jersey. Now that the world is all built up and fenced and signed it is not as simple a thing as it once was to find launching spots. Please reply and give the name and location and cost of launching spots in your part of NJ. Please mention if there is trailor parking etc. Mostly interested in salt water but others may enjoy knowing of lake launching areas too.. Thanks

I have not been to Sandy Hook Bay, but I hear there are a lot of Hobies there.

Sandy Hook has a private club on the beach of sandy hook bay. I believe you have to be a member to launch there (except during regattas). Membership fee looks pretty reasonable though.

Trixies - Located at Berkley Island Park in Berkley on Barnegat Bay. No fee, plenty of trailer/launch area, awesome summer thermal breezes. Lots of jet skis and power boat traffic on weekends between Labor Day and Memorial Day.

13th ave bayside in Seaside on Barnegat Bay. $10 per boat per day in season. Small beach, decent boat ramp, plenty of trailer parking. Flatter water than Trixies and somewhat less boat traffic.

There's also a small ramp/launch area at the south end of Lavallette, but I've never sailed from there.

All the other places I can think of are clubs that you would have to join or are beach locations that would likely require you to leave you boat on the beach all season.

What part of NJ are you trying to sail out of?

Thanks for the suggestions. Im in Middletown, which is right next door to the Atlantic Highlands Catamaran Club which I will look into for next year. I am looking for launching areas within a couple hours trailering time basically for a change of pace. I just finished sorting out a 16 I bought and fleet 250 will not allow a 'day pass' and I dont want to drop 500 plus for 2010 dues this late in the season. Again, thanks for the suggestions and I welcome any others anyone can think of.

Sorry, I didn't know they wouldn't do a day pass.
There is not a single boat ramp in NYC, so I feel your pain.
