I won a bid on Ebay for some Harken Carbo Cheek Blocks,

really cheap. Great Deal. But they are the 57 mm size. I know that they are too big, but will they negatively affect the performance if used for my travelers on my jib with a 1/4" or 3/8" line?

They're huge. Not a good application on the jib sheet.

You want to be able to sheet the jib right down to the front crossbar. That size block won't let you do it.

What type of connector did you use for where the cheek blocks connect to the jib clew?

I thought I saw a picture once that showed you using something like a large "Quick Link" that went thru two of the holes of the clew plate so the cheek blocks were almost on the sides of the clew plate.

Also, I am switching from a lance cleat/swivel cam cleat system to the lo-profile 1075 jib block/cammatic system with the existing swivel cam cleats to be used for the jib traveler car control instead. I plan on using one 3/16" line for the jib traveler control line. Is there a recommended length for this control line and what type of knot would work best on connecting it to the car's post?

The connector to the jib clew is just a shackle. It's just installed so the bow of the shackle goes through one hole and the pin through the other. It's a bit of a pain to put on (need three hands), but it absolutely minimizes the block stack-up at the clew.

The control lines are about 10' long each. I'd take a piece of stainless steel seizing wire and wrap it around the post to hold the pin up. Then two half hitches in the line (a slip-style knot) is all you need:

Until the knot sets in new line, you'll want to tape the end back to the standing part to keep it from coming undone.
