When my mast was being stepped down today the pin slipped out of the bottom. The boat was on the trailer behind my Jeep. The mast fell to the ground away from my car. I am a pretty big guy and was able to slow the fall, but the top still hit the ground pretty hard. There is NO COMP TIP on my mast. I have looked at it quickly and everything seems ok.
No one was hurt....my wife and 4year old girl were near the Jeep
BUT....
What do I need to look for and watch out for?
May it have bent alittle?
Is that a big deal?
What else dont I know?
Thanks

Take the mast off the boat and submerse it in the lake (or a swimming pool). Look for air bubbles around the attachment of the sheave and top of the mast. A good whack on a Parking Lot will most likely loosen that connection and should be checked.
Don't wait to find out it's leaking the next time you tip it over, or it could fill up and pull the boat to turtle, then you've got big problems
...don't ask me how I know
