I was taking a look at my mast step today and noticed that the dolphin striker may be threaded into the mast step a little too far. I believe the mast step installation instructions say to thread the step on so the rod is about flush with the bottom of the cup, but it looks like someone threaded this one farther. How critical is it to have this right? What are some potential consequences of leaving it like this? Should I take the time to correct it? I have most of the boat pulled apart while I refinish the hulls, so I suppose pulling this apart wouldn't be too difficult.
Thanks for the input!
