fiberglass rudders?

I just bought my 3rd 16. Was only 175.00 bucks (and in good shape other than tramp.)

Someone had called the seller and said he was his boat years ago. and wondered if he'd allow him to trade the rudders? Said those rudders are to good for a boat of that price. (he was asking 450.00)

They look the same as all my rudders - except they have a seam and a sticker on one side that says something about them being fiberglass?

I have lots of rudders (Stock) all seem the same. These seem slightly different. Anyone know why or what they are and why that old owner wanted to swap his stock rudders for them? They're creamy white (not black EPO or anything) I don't get why they're different?

Stock (nylon or Lexan) rudders are heavy, much more flexible and thinner than most of the fiberglass / carbon rudders.

My EPO and Euro Carbon rudders are so light, they float.

Stiff rudders are to Hobies what rack/pinion steering is to cars - much more precise than the vague steering on an old Lincoln Town Car.

Thicker rudders will stall at a higher angle of attack - you can turn the rudders more before they lose their grip.

Stock rudders are OK for just fooling around. If you want the boat to handle like a sports car, glass rudders are the best upgrade.

Oh cool. So I should move these from my newest (cheapest boat) to my favorite/best boat ahe? The one I sail the most. The other two are for my son and son in law to use.
