I am new to the world of hobie cat. I purchased a 1981 hobie 16, hulls are hard, sails clean and good, trap blue and strong. I am happy overall. Question, the bottom of the hulls has seen alot of beaches, there for the gel coat is gone and I can see the fiber glass. Any suggestion on how to proceed??

Thank you

Look up teh posts by Capt Dave. He just refurbished an H16 and it is beautiful. Do a search on the forum for bottom jobs. There are tons of posts about the subject.

There are hull templates available as printable downloads - find those and print them in scale. Determine how much substance is missing. If it is more than you could fill with gel coat, you will have to build it up as a glass / epoxy laminate. Neither one version is difficult. You might want to get some beach wheels to slow down the wear.
