How do you attach the traveler swivel cam?

So took the boat out yesterday for the 2nd time....constant 8kt wind "gusting" to 12. My friend managed to capsize us in the main channel of the lake....mast floated perfectly and we got her up, only to pull her down on the other side!

Once we got everything up, we sheeted in and shot off. While adjusting the traveler, my new Harken swivel cam ripped out of the new plastic base (which is riveted to the rear crossbar).

This is the 2nd time this has happened to me, once on my 14T, and now on the 16.

Whats the proper way to attach? Obviously screwing into that plastic doesnt work. Perhaps small bolts/nuts/washers?

Mine has rear rivet into crossbar, front #10 ss screw with nut/lock washer under, side self-tapping screws into base- seems pretty secure. Main point of failure could be the rivet into crossbar? Was rivet 3/16 monel rivet or possibly weaker aluminum? Did base actually break or become detached from crossbar?

i figured.....

the base is fine, its the cam that ripped out. Going to go with one bolt/nut/washer combo in the front, and two self-tapping screws ( i had those in all three) in the two sides.

I broke the plastic base of the swivel by trying to bend the stainless plate of the cleat up. I made an emergency repair by drilling two holes through the plastic base into the crossbar and installing two sheet metal screws. The rivet didn't pull out. It is holding so well, I don't think I'll change it. The swivel did not pull out though it was under stress when I was trying to bend the plate. In normal use, the swivel is being pulled horizontally by force created by the traveller which is, in turn under force from the sail. It is hard to imagine what force would pull that swivel out. Is it possible that you used the main sheet as the righting line, pulling on the line between the swivel and the traveler car?

Did I read correctly that you had 3 sheet metal screws holding the swivel? If so, that would explain why it failed. Most of the stress would be on the one screw which should be a machine screw and nut.
