Hi folks,
Read quite a bit regarding the removal of the delrin screw within the rudder casting (cam tensioner) and pleased to report that I'm fairly certain that I used every method from every post that I have read here. Yep, you name it, I did it. Through a combination of methods sprinkled with a few choice four letter words, I was victorious in the end. Drilling it out was easy and impressive to the wife. From that point forward, I had to worry every small sliver all the way to the end.
Thanks for the heads-up regarding the poisonous vapors emitted from the hand torch method. Sadly, I wished I read that before I cooked on the first rudder. A couple advil with dinner that evening did the trick. :?
Thanks to the helpful poster for the 3/4-10 rod suggestion for cleaning up the threads. My tap/die set does not have that size. Super easy and inexpensive.

I have been poking around Murray's for the replacement kit but did not see it listed (screw, spring, plunger)
Any suggestions?

Part No. 50-10311900, Page 32, by the rudder cams.

Or you can just call any Hobie Dealer and they can get you what you need.

Yep... they simply add the "50-" in front of our part number, so 10311900 RUDDER LOCKING KIT H14/16 from an authorized dealer.

(800) Hobie-49 (462-4349) For the closest dealer or http://www.hobiecat.com/support/dealers/search/

Thanks guys.
I will probably order through Murray's since I have some other parts needed, save a bit on shipping costs.

Thanks again,

uhhh...How's that work? When you have a Kitty Hawk watersports (Hobie dealer) & Nor'banks Sailing (found that on Murray's dealer search) 130 miles away from you? Support local brother :o

J you do your homework.
Something I did not. Though I'm with you. my family and I always try to keep our dollars rolling into the locally owned/operated business'. We know. We sold our storefront a few years back and from the beginning, we quickly gained an empathetic appreciation (and admiration) for these establishments. Pure dedication in every aspect.
Yep, I'm 130 from Kitty Hawk/Kill Devil Hills dealer. My "thought" process here was to shop one place (on-line) that would likely have the most parts in stock w/out having to back ordering or having to wait for a drop ship part to arrive. One tidy order, one condensed ship rate. Simply the cost factor.
Secondly, one item is a certain color vinyl tramp I want in which Hobie does not offer. Yet another supplier. Sooo..

Funny thing, I chatted with Murray's earlier and they only had three parts in stock of the five I requested.
Right on J,

Murray's has to order the Hobie parts through an authorized dealer too, so you will have delays. Vinyl tramp not Hobie made? That I have never heard of. What color?

We also offer to drop-ship orders direct from Hobie to you for a minimal fee.

Thanks.
I'm looking for a red vinyl tramp. Match the red hull graphics to come later. Maybe I should be looking at other Hobie resources but, the 2010-11 hard copy catalog does not indicate red as an option.
Seen them on e-bay. Trying to fight the urge to go cheap. Don't think they will hold up nearly as long as the factory ones.

Red became an option for the H16 Worlds boats this past summer. Missed the catalog, but is a stock number now.
