Hey everyone, What are the advantages and disadvantages to a Comp tip Mast? (If I wanted to buy a mast so I can keep my comp tip) What would a used aluminum mast cost? (approximately, obviously, the price will differ with location and condition). I am about to purchase my second H-16. My current H-16 has the Comp tip Mast, the one I am considering buying does not. Since I plan on selling my H-16 to pay for the new one, I am concerned about loosing any advantages a comp tip may have. I would like to thank everybody for their support and knowledge and hope to sail with you soon.

The comp-tip mast is required to race in Hobie sanctioned events. Other than that no appreciable advantage. Make sure the plastic sheave at the top of the older mast is in good condition, you may not find a replacement as they are no longer manufactured.
