I have been fooling around with strip building a kayak, and I have been wondering if anybody has ever considered a strip-built H16 hull......

I was thinking of how a slightly longer H16 hull would perform. If somebody had the running gear, but crappy hulls, I guess you could use the Kayak Foundry software to desgn the hulls and build it using cedar strips.

Once I get my kayak built, I will post pictures of the process here. It would be interesting to see a Frankenstein Hobie / stripper, maybe 20-21 feet long.

If you are going to go to all that work why not build something like a Formula 16 Blade like this:

I'm kind of new to this, seeing as I just bought my Hobie 14 last week, but I plan to do my own hull rebuild sometime in the next year. I was just going to cut the hull into sections and build a pattern off of the old hull design. I figure it's easy just to build two hulls and put the old rigging and frame on them.
