I'm looking to upgrade to a 16 and I found one that I want to buy, everything on it is good, even has a new set of rigging still in the plastic bags, but while one hull is good the other is soft on the top almost the lenght of the boat! but just the top of the deck is like this. I paid alot for my 14t so it is very solid it's like brand new and since I single hand alot I can use that and stay on the water for now, The 16 I am looking at is dirt cheap ($500) for obvious reasons (soft deck) my question is can this be repaired? Like I said I know I won't be taking it out tomorrow but I have my 14 to keep sailing for now I just don't want to buy this 16 and find there is no way to repair it.

If this is something repairable what is the best way short of buying a new hull, I know that is the easiest option I'm just curious as to restoring one to its former glory

2 options:

Run away. You're not buying a boat - you're buying half a boat.

Source a new-used hull. They're not that uncommon.

Seriously, there is no economical way of restoring that hull "to its former glory". The hull is toast.
