The first thing I do is hook the dogbone up. I usually have to raise my body a little and pull the dogbone down, stretching the shock cord some. I then drape the main sheet over my knee (the right knee if I am on a starboard tack) so it will slide as I move out. I hold the handle with my right hand and the tiller in the left. Once out, I pick up the main sheet. I never uncleat the main until I am out and have some reason to, such as the hull starting to rise. I keep the shock cord forward and not between my legs. You don't want it there when you come back in. Coming back in, I slack off the main a little, throw the main sheet onto the tramp and start my turn. Once you throw the main sheet, you are committed and must start turning. It's funny but I can't remember exactly what I do with the tiller or what foot I push out on since it has gotten to be automatic.
