Hi,

I learned to sail on a Sunfish almost 20 years ago. I upgraded to a Hunter 240 for a while, but having 4 kids put a damper on that real fast. A few weeks ago I was at a Boy Scout Summer Camp watching the boys (including mine) on a sunfish, and got the sailing itch again.

After a lot of searching, I found a 1982 16 in my price range, and put a deposit down sight unseen. (other than pics on craigslist). I had a 4 hour drive to pick it up, and it was just as the owner had described. A great boat, but really really dirty. Very solid hulls, composite mast, upgraded main sheet system and a nice trailer.

I've got it stripped down to the frame and hulls now, cleaning it and waiting on parts.

I've got one questions (well, the one that I haven't found the answer to in this forum), can anyone help me identify the colors in the stripes? Mine are faded bad and I really can't tell if pink was once red and so on.

Here are pics of boat and sail

Thanks in advance for your help!

Russell

I think I have those same sails. From the chart they appear to be the curumba sails from 1980. I have white hulls and tops with two black pin stripes.
