What is the purpose of these grommets that are placed about 6" apart on the side of the tramp?

I believe those are for your trapeze lines to run through VS rubbing the outside of tramp rail.

That is correct. It prevents the premature wear of the shock cords caused by rubbing over the siderail non-skid (carpet, neoprene, etc.) - which is absent on this boat.

If you're going to trapeze with any confidence, you need to have something covering the sidebar to improve footing.

Thanks for the insight. Regarding the non-slip, yes, I agree. If you look at the pic, right above the grommets you'll see strips of non-slip waiting to be installed. They'll be going on the boat today.

These are for your Trampeze lines. I have them on my 2008 H16. They work nice!

It took me a few times looking at the pic to find the trap lines - They are between the two big toes. These boats do make girls smile. This was her first time sailing - she loved it.

To help those who can not see the trap setup, I will post a couple more pix.
In this one, you can see the how the bungee connects to the trap line -

And in this one, the duall grommet setup is clearly visible -
