was checking my rudder connections- H14 Turbo- which I believe to be the same as most H16s... and I must say looking somewhat critically at the design.
When checking the parts pdf they are described as 'original design' but there is nowhere shown the
updated design! I'm aware of some sort of system using pins and bungie cords but shouldn't it be included
in the H14/H16 parts pdfs as an option?
Not to be too critical as the system with half balls, spacer washers and compression springs has evidently worked for many through the years but I found my springs were fatigued and one even broken by a previous owner evidently overtightening.
I replaced the springs with some thick high-quality elastomer 'washers' providing the same amount of compression (as an experiment) but still would like to know what works better... Some will say Official Hobie parts are best- but what to do when they aren't clearly specified?
BTW, I'm glad you got back safely...
