separting tramp frame from pylons

Does anyone have experience separating the tramp frame from the pylon posts? I have newer hulls that I want to replace.

Remove the 4 bolts, Remove the trampoline. Heavy rubber or "dead blow" mallet. Strong swings up from below the castings to pound the castings up and off the pylons. Takes a LOT of force in most cases.

Thank you for your advice. I actually took a 2 foot piece of 2x4, putting the top of the 2x4 up under the casting and then pounding with a 5 pound mallet on the bottom of the 2x4. I was affraid one missed swing at the castings alone and I would be so angry with myself for the hull breach the 5 pound mallet would have inflicted on the hull. With the 2x4 I was able to beat on the beast and never come close to the hull. Afeter cleaning off the corrosion on the pylons and in the castings what would you suggest I do to the pylons before seating the frame? light lubrication? an adhesive for good fixation or just line it all upand tap the new hulls on?

Marine Grease. Maybe some aluminum shims (you can cut from an aluminum can) if the connection is loose.

Matt Miller - In your last reply you recommended using "Marine Grease" instead of "any lubricant" (oil or any grease) in order to facilitate the reassembly of the tramp and hulls [corner castings and pylons].
Why did you specifically recommend Marine Grease?
Does it last longer than any other kind of grease? Do you want it to remain between the corner castings and pylons so that there will be less wear on those parts over time?
