Saludos to all !!!!
Summer is around the corner for us here in P.R. , and I already started getting my 16 ready for the FUN !!! I have a couple of questions;

1- I have to do the glue/epoxy trick ( filling the mounts with epoxy ) to get my pontoons to be more steady and solid into the mounting pipes, I am planing to turn the H16 upside down for this and take it appart, ANY SUGGESTIONS ?

2- When I sail, I love going to all the beaches one by one, and I will like to be able to lower or pack the sails for safety while the H16 is on the sand and around people. I love the trick that rolls the Gib on the Gib`s forward stay, whatever is called ( suggestions ) ?
3- Also, I will like to be able to quickly lower the Main Sail for safety, is it possible to keep the Main Sail up on the mast without using the "U" shaped grabing point for the Main Sail raising line ( the line mount on the mast tip ) Not using this mount will allow me to quickly lower the Main Sail without having to release the line from the "U" shaped mount. ( Ideas or Suggestions ) ?

Anticipated thanks to all !!!

Think long and hard before you epoxy anything to your boat then wait a few days and repeat Unless you are in A fleet in the front a little play in your boat is no big deal remember that epoxy does not forgive :shock:
Onto the beach turn the boat into the wind and it will be ok. keep a eye on the craft and don not ever be far away withe the sails up Practice lowering the jib and the main and this can be done in a few minutes roll the sails loose and tie them to the tramp they will be fine overnight
You sound new to sailing take your time take it easy think before you do something look around for a seasoned sailor or read the forum for advise :roll:

Johnnymoto,

I see you are from Puerto Rico. Are you going to be sailing in the Raleigh area or just up here temporarily? I believe Gary sails on Lake Norman. The best sailing lakes in the Raleigh area are Jordan (small but convenient) and Kerr which is 1 1/2 times the size of Lake Norman. Kerr is the largest lake in Virginia but not far from Raleigh. Jordan is 14000 acres, Norman is 34000 and Kerr is 50000 acres. I sail on Jordan because it is a little closer to me. Lake Norman is very crowded and can be dangerous on weekends.

Why do you need to wait for summer to go sailing in San Juan? Aren't the trade-winds better right now?

I will be in Raleigh only until this Friday, but it`s a work/training trip. By the way, tomorrow night ( Feb 9, 7pm ) I will be visiting the Hope Cafe on Tryon Road ( south of Raleigh ) to get a good dose of that Beautiful Blue Grass Music you fellows have here in NC, and have a good Country meal in there, if anybody wants to join me, please give me a call, ( 787-948-7790, Juan ) First beer goes on me !!!!

Sunvista, It`s true, winds are better at this time, they get really strong, racers are having a blast, but I`m not a racer, I just sail for fun around the beaches and the little islands, and actually don`t like strong winds because I don`t have a copilot who can help me with the strong winds. Also, the water is not cold, but the Jellyfish is the "owner" of the Oceans here now, and most people don`t go to the beach because of that, and me neither, you know, they can really hurt badly, I don`t mess with them creatures, and now they are in the shallows by the thousands and they get as big as 12" around and the tentacles are as long as 7-10 feet. They disapear around March and don`t come back until December or so.

Sunvista, I was stationed in Oceana ( Navy Aviation ) for 5 years back in 87-93. I lived in Va.B. and had a great time !!! At that time my hobby was flying R.C. Models in Fentress Airfield south from Oceana. I loved that town, the Beach Boulevard was a fun place, I used to ride my motorcycle there on weekends and had a lot of fun !!! One place I`ll never forget is that Ice Cream / Milk Farm place south from Va.B., the BEST Ice Cream I ever have had in my entire Life !!!! I miss those days !!!
