My buddy bought a 2000' H16 a few years ago. The boat was "new" (never in water), but used as a display unit for a dealer. Ever since he has owned it, the boat has had a terrible squeeking/creaking noise that eminates from the casting/pylons. We have guessed that this is from a poor fit. After a day of sailing/racing there always seems to be a gray residue around this area. We have thought about epoxying the castings, but have some worries about doing this on such a newer boat. Any other advise or ideas how to resolve this are appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott

Hi,
This is normal. I have a 2005 boat it does the same thing. Don't worry abought it. Just rinse boat off with fresh water when done sailing.

The creaking is normal for a new boat. Some people take aluminun cans, cut them into strips and bend them so they hang over the top of the pylons. When the castings are put back on, it shims the fit and stops the creak.

99% of all new boats squeak! I was at Megas and all the charter boats were squeaky, light wind, little chop, I could not sneak up on anyone!! it will stop when it gets broke in better.
