Hi all, if the hull serial number is B12829 can someone assist me in providing age please? what's confusing is the sail number is 43??? yet it's meant to be a 2005 boat last used in the Australian Nationals.

Regards
Grant

Grant My boat was 2003 and sail no 34!
Low numbers like that usually mean the boat was sold on after a major regatta where the boats are supplied.
Mine came from the Worlds in New Caledonia in 2003 (?)
The number will mean something to one of the gurus on here but is not similar to mine CCMB3074.
Location sometimes helps.

I assume that the number is incomplete. Possibly... CCM B12829 and missing the last 2 digits showing the model year.

The 9 may mean it was built in the 90's. Being used in a nationals is not always (actually rarely in recent years) factory supplied. Could be a privately owned boat and used a sail number of their choice. The 2006 event held in September 2005 appears to have had some charter boats, but mostly privately owned ones.

The Australian 2006 Hogs Breath Hobie Cat Nationals attracts international sailors

The 2006 Hogs Breath Hobie Cat Nationals Australians attracts international sailors. Sailors from around the world have booked charter boats and others have expressed interest in attending. With sailors coming from the Eastern states organising containers this Australian Championships will be huge. With Perth famous for the “Fremantle Doctor”, one of the steadiest sea breezes in the world. If you haven’t sailed a Hobie in Perth, you have never truly sailed a Hobie. The organisers have planned some of the biggest parties and fun for all. If you are a Hobie sailor there is no excuse for missing these nationals.

as per phone call with you;

1/ Prior to 2000 the following codes where used in Australia under builder Bashford Boats.

BB = Bashford Boats number 1234
BI = Bashford International number 1234

2/ From 2000, Hobie Aus went to the CCMB codes used at HCC USA

3/ Check both hulls to see if the CCMB is there as Matt suggest

4/ If it is clear that both hulls say BI, then I don't have an answer for you.

All the Bashford records where lost in the bush fires in 2000 in New South Wales.
