Trapeze Too Low When Mast is Raked

Hello,

I've read several posts regarding this but wanted to see if there is any other option (other than shortening the wires) out there for raising the height of the trap to get the black trap handles 32" off the deck as Matt suggested in the past? When my mast is raked at max (both on my 14 and 16) the trap wires are just too low as I'm sure many have figured out. I'd like to keep the stock wire length to allow for rake adjustment since the height works when the minimum mast rake used.

Don't you have an adjustable system? Where there's a line that runs through a block / eye below the T handle?


If so, then just move the rope lock on the line.

Thanks! My problem is that the wire is too long so regardless of the adjustability of the dogbone using the rope lock, the system is still too low when the mast is fully raked.

Trap wires are too long then. Shortening them is not a big deal.

I think I heard that the fine folks at West Marine have the tool and will shorten them for a few bucks.

Another option is to just buy another set, they aren't too expensive. Then you have both.

We just went to west marine and they had the tool bolted to a bench out for people to use. They have all the hardware to cut and shorten them. Not hard at all to just shorten a few inches!
