Ratted out Hobie disposition

Hey folks!
I am posting this really quick to get it out there, Ill add pics later.

I have an '81 16 that is pretty worn out. It needs a new tramp, standing rigging, and the kicker? The hulls are toast.
The left hull has been repaired and an inspection port installed that kept it going a few more years, but its done now. I wouldn't trust any repairs to last very long before more delam occurred. Its all the way back to the rear corner casting.

Ive got two sets of serviceable sails, thirty years old, but they'll get ya down the lake. The trailer is also serviceable. Running rigging is ok, maybe needs a couple new lines, old seaway blocks, and it has an all aluminum mast. Rudders are fair, I think fiberglass, need a good sanding.

My question is what is the best thing to do with this old boat?

Part it out? But who wants old parts?

Scrap it? A little value in the aluminum, and stainless rigging, keep the shackles etc?

I know I don't want to sell it with the intent of someone trying to sail it as is because it is not safe.

Depending where you are, I'd be interested in a parts boat. I kinda of like the idea of keeping my '78 in the correct vintage. My mast has a slight bend and not a huge fan of my Keoke sail color pattern.

As for the hulls, I'd cut them up and take them to be disposed of. Makes sure no one gets any grandiose ideas.

I think there are a lot of people that would be interested in buying a parts boat. I love to sail but I don't have the money to buy lots of new parts. When I first got into Hobies, I got some good advice from our local group leader, so I bought a boat for cheap and got another one for even cheaper. I cannibalized the cheaper boat and cleaned up the parts that were usable. I was surprised to find out that some of the better parts were on the cheaper boat, even though overall it was in much worse shape. So now if a part fails, I can choose between options. And I'll buy new parts when I need them.

The downside of this option, is that people won't want to pay much for a parts boat. If that sounds like a horrible option, maybe you need to buy a slightly better boat, and keep your parts boat for yourself so you can use your old parts when necessary.

What is wrong with the hulls? Can we see photos? Im only curious.

If you decide to part it out i may be interested in a set of sails.

I'd let go of the trailer for $500 including the box. I can take more pictures as needed. I still have to get the other set of sails out too. Thanks for looking!
