Hi Guys

Frustrations, frustrations, frustrations. After my last capsize i got ashore only to realise that both the transoms on my Hobie 16 has cracked. It looks like this might have been an issue for the previous owner as well, as he had installed inspection ports on the rear section of the hulls.I would imagine that this isn't easily repaired. So to all you old boat lovers...How or what is the easiest or cheapest fix to this problem?

Could've been old damage that the previous owner never completely repaired. I've never done transoms before, but I imagine you'd be best off treating it like a hole and completely re-glassing the area, as much as possible. I guess it depends on how bad/large and where the cracks are. My local Hobie dealer just re-did some transoms on an 18, so it's doable, just gotta figure out how!

While kinda goofy, this guy explains everything you need to know to handle a basic fiberglass repair in his video series:

Hi Mike

Thanks for the tip. Yeah goofy is right  , but I'll try his method.

Photos would really help here. Can't make a diagnosis without seeing the patient.
