Lake Carlyle, IL - about an hour west. They have a regatta coming up in early October.

I agree! I was transferred to St Louis for a couple of years and Lake Carlyle was by far the best I could find in a couple hour drive from STL.

Not for sure yet but it looks like Minneapolis might be a better venue for sailors. They do more sailing in Minnesota than they do in California !!! I don't know !!! That just might be a little too close to MBounds !!!   We'll see !!!

Minneapolis is still a 10 hour drive from me. If you get through Chicago unscathed.

I know. It was 40 below two winters ago but at least I won't have to worry about sailing in it !!!   Plus, the summers are just about as hot as the winters are cold !!!

I can remember the thrill I use to get every time I would head for the beach when I first started sailing. I wanna get that back and it looks like I might just get that in Minneapolis !!! I've never seen water that flat in 10 to 15 knots !!! Gonna go peek at the regatta in IL at the beginning of next month and see if that changes my mind !!!
