 Post subject: Replacement rudder bolts

This is the closest bolt I can find at my local hardware store. You can see that the threads are longer and that the upper rudder casting would be bearing on the threads (on the one side) if I used this bolt. Can these be used until I can order some Hobie 16 ones in?

Looks fine to me. As long as it's stainless you should be OK. I would just cut off the excess length with a hack saw and deburr with a file. It is normal for the threads to contact the casting.

I prefer that the shoulder of the bolt ( the part without threads) is the same length as the original myself and saw off the extra...... :)
