I saw a forum where someone set up their Hobie 16 without a boom. Might have been a kit ? The wave, getaway, some nacras do not have a boom, would this work on a H16 ? Would this be good for us leisure/beginner sailors ? Can it be done ?

I guess what I mean is that would no boom make the boat more forgiving to sail ?

Not sure about the 16. but I tried my 17 without it, using the boomlet. New Hobie sails has a rope to let you do it. I did not like it. Sail shape was bad and no way to control mast rotation.

Just my 2 cents,

Doug
