Hi, are there any secrets for removing the front boom cap from an old h16 boom that would have never been removed? I have a seized gooseneck pin that in now broken off in the cap.

Mallet and a big blade screw driver. Going around the cap to try and knock it out evenly.

Also make sure that when you remove the rivets, all material from the rivet shank has been cleared from the hole. Even a small sliver of stainless steel left in the hole can cause the cap to bind, making removal impossible.

Clamp the boom in a bench vice or affix it to something solid before attempting to knock the cap out. Otherwise when you hit the cap with a mallet, you’ll just move the whole boom.
