Hi all,

I was replacing the rudder cams on my 1985 boat for the first time ever this weekend, and I had purchased the authorized Hobie kit with plunger top, spring, and derin screw. When I went to insert the spring and top into the rudder casting it was too long. I compared it to the older spring (which did not look compressed) and noticed it was about a half an inch longer. I couldn't even start with the derin screw because the plunger assembly extended beyond the bottom of the hole with the top extended to the rudder cam.

Question: Did the lower rudder casting change over time? Do I need a different kit for an older boat?
