Mast step

Are these different from year to year. I took one off an 83 boat to put on an 88 and it does not fit. Are you supposed to heat it up or can I use a c clamp?Any suggestions.

The parts are pretty similar, but the placement of the striker post hole has varied. They all have to be hammered down into place.

I just went ahead and ordered a new one. It should be the exact same thing but for whatever reason this one does not fit. Sucks cause its in perfect condition.

We only have one part for all replacements, so they will work even if not a perfect fit to the crossbar. There is sometimes a little gap here or there.

The old one sat very flush. The new old one had way to much of a gap 1/2 "that I would have been uncomfortable with. I would not have been able to rivit it in plus I did not want to drill new holes. It must have got distorted on the old cross bar or something. 82 bucks for a new one. Ouch.

Ya know looking at them closely side by side the 82 one is smaller and its pretty clear they had to come from different castings. I hope the new one is closer to what I currently have.
