the Hobie 16 is a "one-design" boat, meaning dimensionally it has not, and will not, change.
Sails and tramp will fit like a glove. The rigging has changed lengths over the years to allow for more mast rake (at racers request).
I'd suggest getting the parts you absolutely have to have, and go sailing. Do some more research and enter a race. If you are sailing/racing the boat to its' potential, and find you're at a disadvantage, this may be due to boat weight, as the '80 through '83 boats are heavier than current boats. If you find a newer (lighter) boat you can always swap out your new stuff, and sell the '81
