A previous owner of my 16 painted the hulls. It's starting to flake off. Step 1 of my hull restoration project is to get all the paint off. Does anyone have any specific suggestions on how? I was just going to sand it all off with my 5" random orbital sander but don't even know what ballpark of grit to use. I really don't want to do more harm than good.
I have a long fun winter project ahead of me.
Thanks in advance!

What are you planning to do after the paint is off? Shoot with gelcoat or try to restore the original gelcoat?

Lay down some fiber glass on the keel. Other smaller repairs. Prime. Paint.
