Cleaning and restoring

Hey all just got a 1981 H16. Has orange hulls and is in overall pretty good shape. I want to get it as clean as possible though.

HULLS-Should I just use rubbing compound/polish on the hull to get it looking new? There are a few scratches can I just use touch up paint on those?

MAIN TRAVELLER: There is some old grease in the track throughout, should I clean this all out and add new grease or is there a dry lubricant or something that would work better?

FRAME: Should I use a metal polish on this to clean it off well and do I need to seal it with anything to protect it?

BLOCKS/PULLEYS/RUDDER MECHANISMS: Is there a lubricant I can use to get them running really smoothly?

MAST: Can I just paint the thing? Doesnt look horrible but a new coat of paint or whatever would be nice.


I know there is a lot but if anyne can answer one or more it would be great, or any other common problem areas, thanks in advance.

MAIN TRAVELLER: Clean out the grease and use dishwashing soap.

BLOCKS/PULLEYS/RUDDER MECHANISMS: Dishwashing soap or a dry silicon. Don't use WD-40 or anything else that's sticky as it attracts dirt.

MAST: Masts have been painted. You may get scratches and dings but it'll look pretty good. Do a search on catsailor.com. There have been numerous discussions there about painting masts and boats.

Hulls: Repair as nec (use gelcoat), buff with 3m perfectit III heavycut . Wax for protection. Sail often, and as fast as you can!!! That'll keep her clean.
