My Hobie 16 came with a mast float which is not a plastic Hobie Bob, but a type of neoprene, which, if I remember correctly, is riveted on the comptip and is about 3-4 feet long. I haven't had any problems with it, but it the added weight to the end of the mast may make righting more difficult. I am 6' 3" and 215 and am unable to right the boat myself.

Can someone supply me with some history of these mast floats? Thanks.
