I have a 2004 completed homemade version of the Robert Harris Tigercat using Hobie 16 mast and sails. I have difficulty getting my 1970's vintage McKibbin main sail fully raised so the cable stop hooks near the top of the mast. I have to support the ends of the boom with the jib line, unhook the corner of the sail from the gooseneck, and push the rope edge corner up into slot. It later takes a small block and tackle to pull the gooseneck slider down below the gap for inserting the rope edge of the sail. Does anyone have experience with this problem on an old Hobie 16?

Ted

A little sail lube along the bolt rope never hurts. Inspect all the batten pockets to see if a batten has blown through one of them. That will cause drag too.
