Hey Guys,

I need your help on the following. for 1 year I've been the proud owner of a hobie 16 and can be regurarly be seen sailling with it at the north Sea, till two weeks back when I tore up my slide, and hmmm I ran into trouble....

I bought a new slide but that didn't fit into the mast. As you probarbly noted I'm dutch..but somehow it seems I ended up buying an american Hobie 16. this is of course not a bad thing persé.. except that Hobiecat europe isn't willing to help me. But before I start ordering I would like to have conformation on the fact that I indeed need a Slide for a American model instead of an european one.

I have pictures but right now I'll first have to find a site we're I can post them... so very likely they will be added later..

I can say though that the original slide which broke had a lot smaller diameter and had no endcapbearing or other attachements.

I was able to find a serialnumber if that helps:
S04850..

If anyone could clarify me on this issue I would very much appreciate it. Also I would like to know whether there are more major differences between the two models. Lastly I would like to know a bit more about my 'buddy'. I already know it is older then me because the seialnumber was located at the fore pylon posts.

thanks in advance for you help..

Goofy

as promised the pictures:

The left one is the 'american model' the right model the european one
find below the difference between the masts:

the left one is from my one boat the right the regular one that every hobie 16 owner at our club has.

I'm assuming you mean "gooseneck slide" when you say "slide".

Meaning this assembly:

As far as I know, there are no differences between the European and US versions.

Correct,

that is an american assembly (to my untrained eye). look at hobiecat.net and then under the spareparts list. There you'll find that the assembly is different.

once i again i'll post tomorrow pictures of the two assemblies and you'll see the differences between the two.

thanks for the reply by the way.
