I Moor my Hobie 16’ in summer in a bay on Long Island. What length chain and line should I use in 4’ of water (high tide). FYI….If a storm is coming, I put it on a trailer. There is a chain and line from the mooring anchor to the buoy. I put a separate line from the buoy to the Hobie.

Do I hook to a hull or to the center?

How long of a line from the Hobie to the buoy?

How long chain and line from buoy to the anchor?

I always read it was not good to moor a hobie. strains all the attachment points.
Plus the hulls are not to fond of it.

Correct. Mooring Hobies is generally frowned upon. They don’t track well into the wind/waves. Rigging is loose so it will bang around and take a beating. No specific anchoring points on the hulls to tie off to. The hulls will absorb water (unless painted with bottom paint), leading to soft spots and degradation. Sails are difficult to raise when your’re standing in water up to your waist with the boat turning and bouncing around.
