Broken Harken 29 mm bullet block - Aussie jib halyard

We race weekly, from early June through October, plus a couple of regattas, each year.
We sail socially every second weekend, and we get good and enjoyable use out of our 2015 H16.

In tonight's 2nd Club race, the jib came down when the bullet block broke.
The s/steel bracket (to which the jib shackle attaches) split.
Another DNF.

Has this breakage happened to others?

Are we over-tightening the Aussie halyard?

Time to call my dealer......

Yes that block has a bad habit of failing just as you describe. I suspect metal fatigue, that block is highly loaded

Yes, it is highly loaded.....

We are grateful that the mast did not come down, that no one was injured, and that we could sail back in without issues.

One beer is good to celebrate another DNF.
