I posted and directed this request to Matt Miller on another forum a couple of days ago. I just looked him up and discovered that he passed recently. RIP. He was definitely part of the Hobie fabric. I also understand that Bass Pro Shops recently acquired Hobie.

I would like to get my hands on the technical drawings for both the Hobie 16 mast base and step. I'm going to try to fabricate a heavier-duty step and base that rotates, rakes, and can be left at a mooring. My moored area has some wave action and, given enough time, probably enough to tear the original apart. If it works, I'll open-source the new base drawings to the community and to Hobie. I'm also aware of the "leaky hulls" issue. Some new gelcoat and well-applied bottom paint ought to slow the process down.

It would be a great win for the company and the fleet if it works. The whole trailering thing leaves much to be desired.

Wow! I passed away?

Nope still here. :D Just not working for Hobie and not as involved in forums as I used to be.

Technical drawings are not available as these are current production parts.
