I dont have a clew plate with the multiple holes in it on my jib. It just comes to a point and has on hole. Can i buy the other plate and put it on? Will this help me get the jib tighter? I can not get mine tight before my blocks hit the travler. It is an old jib. is that the real problem?

Yes, you can cut the sail and install a clew plate. Yes, it will give more room for sheeting by shortening the sail a little there. Also allows adjustments to get a balanced sheeting angle (foot and leach tension).
