Hello all
I just rescued a hobie 16 from the back of a corn field. The numbers on the hull are 1616 80f. I had a 14 in the early 70s and bought an 18 in the early 80s. I was a b fleet racer in Indiana and then in South Carolina. I sold both boats when i moved back to Indiana 20 years ago.
I need to replace the tramp and all the shrouds. The rudders need shimmed, the tiller connections need replaced and the jib traveler and cleats need to be updated. My question is with all that has happened since this boat was new what can and should I replace to get this boat back into racing condition. It will see the inland lakes here in northern Indiana and southern Michigan, I will be taking it to Lake Michigan also. I now have 2 boys who think if its not a jet ski it is not cool and I do want to turn them on to the thrill of singing rigging and a slapping hull.
Thanks
Mark

I'll take some photos of seabass and point out what I did to her to bring her back from the dead. Btw, if you're going to sail her in lake michigan, weko beach in bridgman, Mi. has a great launch right on the beach.
