Looks like you got a good deal. Fix a few things and you are in good shape.

fix the soft spots 1st, do not dump a lot of money in soft hulls
new rigging is a nice safety feature, I would replace
Looks like the main traveler needs to be replaced
tramp is on backwards from how most people install them, no big deal
mast base is old style, you will not be able top use the mast step link kit. I think you can drill out the rivet and use it as the "new" style base, I can check on the if you need me to I'm not 100% sure.
Looks like you need a new mast base, make sure you get Monel rivets to install it with, your dealer will have them.
The cracks around the rudder pins is normal
You will want to get a tiller connector kit once you get on the water, it will make the rudder tighter.
Lube the rudder cams, the "look" to be in workable condition.
I am sure there is more I missed looking at the picture but this should get you started.
the boat is a 1976

Where do you love, maybe we can find you a dealer or local club close to help you out.

standing rigging=wires

we recommend you replace them every few years.
your going to need to replace them all at once, there have been length changes over the years and to insure proper fit they need to be replace.

the small pole looks to be a righting pole, maybe a spin pole. Nothing "normal" for a h16

Ok, sorry to be hassel but I do not have all the terminology down yet....I live in Orlando and I have a newer style mast base but I do not know if it will work with the dolphin striker base. As for the rivets, I need them ASAP. I tried to find Stainless Steel but no luck and I am not sure what size to go with either...While we are on rivets, there is a pic of where the main sheet line goes through on the boat. The base of that will lift up as seen in the pic. Should I be worried or is a little slop ok? (Maybe 2 or 3mm of lift total)

new style will not work with your base.
rivets can be purchased from your dealer
rivets are : Hobie part number 8010131, I like to use 4, 3 is what the catalog says.

Where the main traveler cleat is, the one on the rear cross bar is not stock. I'm not sure how much movement is
"normal" for that set up.

Download catalog and take a look at the h16 section in the back.

Just, remember you still have a boat with soft hulls and correcting that is important for where you sail and resale, so be careful how much money you throw at her. Trailer and sail box look pretty good.

Yes, fix the soft spots! I was out sailing last week in moderate wind and witnessed the right hull on an older H16 completely fail right at the usual place in front of the forward pylon. They were able to drop the main and sail the boat to a beach with the jib.

The main sheet cleat is not supposed to be there? Is that a good thing or what? also the hulls are not to bad the left has 2 soft spots on the side. The right has 1 on the side and both are soft in front of the front pylon on top... Maybe I should put a port hole there....As for the rusty bar with the cables any ideas please explain. Also the 3 poles, what are they used for? I know one is for the rudder control.

Thanks for all the help guys!

When you do the rigging as a few guys said, don't forget the anchor pins where the shrouds connect to the hulls. Also, check that old school mast tang for cracks. Do as Brad said, drill out the stainless pin in the mast step, get a new mast base and mast step link kit and that should do it.
A little maintenance and you'll be stoked!

Sail it like you stole it!!

Fixing the soft spots and the standing rigging on a boat that age is a must do.

If you haven't already seen, in the Help With Repairs and Hobie Sailing FAQ section there is ample advice on fixing the soft spots, general maintenance and other issues. The soft spot repair advice Hobie has published is at the link below

http://www.hobiecat.com/support/tech/delam.html

Additional information can be found here on other projects should you need them.

Good luck!

Two other thoughts. 1. If this is your first 16 and you don't have others that you know nearby who own one (so you can look at their setups), get a H16 assembly manual to ensure that you rig the boat correctly. I agree with Brad in that you seem to have extra parts that don't look standard to a Hobie. the Assembly Manual will help you figure out what is what. Your local dealer can help you with that.

Also...be sure to seal the pylons where they come out of the hulls with with silicone or 3M 5200 to keep water from getting in the hulls. The gudgeon screws that attache the rudder assemblies to the hull should also be sealed.

I would REFRAIN from putting ports in the boat if you can help it.
