Last year I purchased a complete used 1981 Hobie 16. The previous owner told me that he thought the sails were not original and were replaced sometime since 1981. The sails are in ok shape, but they are certainly old and well used. I don't believe he was correct and suspect they are the original sails that came with the boat. Does anyone know a way to determine the age of sails perhaps through a serial number, sail number, or sail colors that were used in certain years of production?
