Hi to all,

i have just buyed a 02 h16 i have noticed that the bolts used to keep the corner casting over the pilons are made in white plastic....
Over my 86 boat they was made in stainless steel.
Is it normal?

Thanx a lot

That is normal.

The bolts are not under tension, so there is no stress on the plastic nuts.

Yeah! Thanks to this site I avoided a fatal error! When I first started refitting my 1981 H16 I noticed that 1 of the 4 original nylon nuts was missing and all the others were loose. So I found 4 stainless steel nuts in my "magic parts box" and snugged everything up real tight! I then read on this site that overtightening these nuts will crack your castings! So I ran down to the garage, removed the nuts, applied locktight and GENTLY snugged them back on. Another save by the knowledge on this site!
