I'm trying to replace the jib car on my '95 16 with the new style with rollers. So far, no joy. The base that the cam cleat is mounted to hits the mast step base, and prevents the car from dropping into place on the crossbar. Am I supposed to disassemble the assembly to install it?

A picture from another post shows my problem pretty well.

The original post is http://www.hobiecat.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=7905 I don't see if the solution was ever documented.

Thanks.

I have recently replaced the traveler on my H16.

As M Miller advised you need to unscrew one of the bolts that hold the eye, turn the platform and the car will slip in perfectly.

Then just screw the eye back on.

Thanks. I'd considered that as the most likely way to do it. Did you have any trouble with the nut on the underside? It looks like you'd need some slim alligator pliers.

I used a flat wrench which fit in the opening underside. So no problems with that.
I did have problems with feeding shock cord and sheet through small holes, so I had to drill them to make them wider.
