Pics and Questions with my new shorter shrouds

I took advice from you guys in the forum and decided to replace all my standing rigging. If I order new shrouds and bridle wires then why do I still need 2 have the extra 10 hole adjuster up front to attach my forestay? Wouldn't hobie be making the Bridle wires longer to compensate for the extra mast rake? I looks kinda cheesy... Here's were I am after the installation.

Also do you think I need to spring for the newer mast base? With the larger mast rake I have less metal on metal to stop the mast from pivoting past the stops

Finally How do I attach the upper forestay to the Jib Block assembly? The current Jib Block has rivets that are hollow in the middle so I am left with this upper forestay that In can't attach? Brad at Sun jammers you got me into this pickle can you help me get out?

The bridles are the same length to my knowledge, but the lower forestay is waaaay longer. I would leave your base and step. It's when they are so worn that it makes a ramp when I worry. Jib block rivet can be drilled out to 1/4" and a clevis pin installed. It's kinda funky, but works. The alternative is to buy a new jib hal block or install an Aussie system.



Since Brad got you into this, I think you should fly him up there to personally install your new hardware. Make sure to have a stock of that REAL Canadian beer.

When I put new shrouds and added a furling jib I also had to add 2 ten hole adjusters, I put one on the top and one on the bottom, it made it a lot cleaner looking and also lowered the jib. The pigtail, (upper forestay), that you are holding in your hand looks a lot shorter than normal, you might see about getting one that is longer that will add more length, maybe one from a h17, h18 etc.
The pins, (clevis and cotter pins), in your jib block should come out so you can attach the new pigtail, but it sounds like your's is rivited? So I would just by a new jib block, find someone on the forum that has a used one or find one on ebay.

How about this rig? It gives you the extra length you need on the forsestay and also the little bugee pulls the upper extender so it folds and removes the slack from the forestay after you tension the Jib halyard. This pic is from Matt Bounds, but I have my Jib rigged this way also.

Ok you guys are telling me that the forestay is goofy but it works so just live with it or buy a new longer forestay. I guess I will just live with it for now. And go sailing as you guys suggest. All your ideas have been great!
I have never in my life seen a new H 16in person... and I have tried here, in Florida and in California. I tried to go to the factory and I even tried to get to Sunjammers but it never worked out.
