Hobie Warranty

I put a rectangle hatch in my outback and went to put the bucket in to find that there is a lump on the inside of my kayak that does not allow the lid to shut with the rectangle bucket inside. The local kayak shop told me they would not work on the kayak without charging me since I did not purchase the kayak from them (warranty or not). The original place I bought the kayak locally no longer sells hobie or kayaks and said it should be covered under warranty. They also said I should be fine to just sand it down until my bucket fits.

Shouldn't any hobie dealer complete hobie warranty work?

I like to try to do business locally, but the replacement Hobie shop hasn't been the greatest from the few times I have tried to do business with them.

It is from the mold vent... plastic often drops off the vent material during molding. This is not considered a defect and is quite common. Yes, can be ground down to make the bucket fit.

As far as warranty goes, Dealers are independent and we can only suggest that they should do warranty on a product they did not sell.

I have that same bump where my hatch is.

But it hits before the bump. My insert hits the bottom of my yak towards the seat side before the bump left from the manufacturing process. My dealer said it is because my hobie is just sitting and once it is used on a warm day, the insert will fit.


I've gone 2 times where it was 50 degrees in morning and close to 70 degrees when I got off water.

The insert for much better at the end of the day after it had warmed up.

Go figure.
