Hello -- I am new to the forum and just got my first Hobie Outback! I fish coastal waters in New England and have grown tired of losing position in the wind and tide before I can cast a fly from my tipsy sea kayak, so I'm really looking forward to the fall season. The posts on this forum have already been helpful, but I have a question about the drive, assuming it is okay to jump right in after this quick Hello. I've searched far and wide for info but come up empty on the particulars.

I have the barely used V2 drive with ST Turbo fins and would like to convert to any version of 180, if possible, even if it is only a few hundred bucks cheaper than buying a brand new 180. I am not afraid of the tinkering, but don't want to cut/shave/modify individual parts to make things work. The alternative, I guess, would be to sell the V2 drive, assuming there is interest in these older ones, and then put that toward a new MD180. Any advice? Is the conversion possible? What parts would I need? Other threads I should look at?

Thanks in advance for any helpful hints,

Jason
