The wife paddled up next to me on my Lynx. The wife's paddle board caught my stored paddle on the Lynx while we were on the lake. I think it pried the paddle down onto the Lynx's side handle and cracked the plastic. When we got home I noticed there is a three inch hairline crack going from about the Hobie side sticker down towards the center of the handle/kayak. At first I thought, and it looked like, the plastic just dried and aged causing the crack but the prying on the stowed paddle makes more sense.

Do I have to cut away a larger area, around the thin crack, then fill? ie, cut out a 1/4 inch strip along the crack then fill with epoxy? Or can I just lay epoxy along the crack and build up some epoxy over the crack? I don't want to make the damaged area bigger.
